Punjab Kings staged a comeback to overcome Gujarat Titans in a gripping encounter on Thursday, propelling them to fifth place in the IPL 2024 points table, while Gujarat slipped to sixth.
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders maintained their position at the summit after convincingly defeating Delhi Capitals by a staggering 105 runs. This significant victory led to Rajasthan Royals falling to second place due to their inferior run rate.
As a result of Delhi's heavy defeat, they plummeted to ninth place in the table, with only Mumbai Indians trailing behind them. In the meantime, Royal Challengers Bengaluru benefited unexpectedly from KKR's triumph, as they climbed to eighth place.

It must be noted Shashank Singh smashed an unbeaten 61 to help Punjab Kings (PBKS) beat Gujarat Titans (GT) by three wickets.
Shashank played the knock of his life, remaining unbeaten on 61 off 29 balls during which he hit six boundaries and four sixes to guide PBKS home with a ball to spare.
He was ably supported by Ashutosh Sharma (31 off 17) as the duo shared 43 runs off just 22 balls to raise PBKS’ hopes, which eventually came true.
Earlier, Shubman Gill led from the front with an unbeaten fifty to steer Gujarat Giants to an imposing 199/4.
Gill made 89 off 48 balls, the highest individual score this season so far, and in the process hit six fours and four sixes to guide GT’s innings, which was also helped generously by B Sai Sudharsan’s 19-ball 33 and Rahul Tewatia’s 8-ball 23.
